Kodak Portra 400 is my go to film for all of my various medium format cameras (especially). Portra 400 is said to be sharper than Porta 160 and more saturated also. Kodak Portra Having successfully developed the 10 roles of medium format Kodak Portra 400 using the quite splendid Tetenal C-41 kit, and after leaving my negatives to dry, I hurried up to my Epson V550 to scan them using my preferred tool of choice, VueScan, with the intention of then using DarkTable, as usual, to export final JPEGs. I just came back from a trip in Norway with some film to scan, mostly kodak portra 400 NC. I'm scanning the 35mm film with a Nikon Coolscan V, with wich I'm still not too familiar. In fact I recently posted here about my dislike with the amount of grain I was getting from it in BW scans. The experience during scanning was also a little different to when I scan Portra 400 that’s been developed normally; in order to bring out shadow detail in over-exposed and normally developed film the density adjustments on the scanner are the key…in essentially brightening the scan you open up the shadows without blowing the highlights, and this has the effect of reducing the contrast and giving an overall bright look.
